Waste Reduction and Regulation

Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Small Business Technical Assistance Program

helps small businesses with fewer than 100 employees comply with environmental regulations and reduce pollution and waste. SBTAP provides simplified regulatory guidance documents, on-site assessments, training seminars, and technical research. These services are provided at no charge. SBTAP also provides enforcement relief and assistance to small businesses for inadvertent violations that are discovered as a result of the business requesting assistance from DEP. The Small Business Compliance Incentives Policy enables businesses to use the DEP as an assistance provider without the fear of being penalized for inadvertent violations.
