I stayed for 4 nights in this great HI-Hostel in Maine and enjoyed it very much.  The rooms are very clean, big enough….There are enough bathrooms, the kitchen is big with all you need, i.e., many spices.

It is a pleasure to sit in the big living room, where you can watch TV, play a game, read a book or just hang around.  For me as a solo traveler it was very nice to get in contact with the family who run this hostel…who are very nice and hospitable…and try to do everything for you.

I liked my time in this hostel and in the area and will definitely recommend it to my friends.

This is how David and Deborah Doyle feel about their business: “Did you know that Bethel had visitors from Australia, Austria, China, Denmark, Italy, France, Spain, and England and they all stayed at the hostel for the weekend – FULL HOUSE – visiting with friends from all over the world. Hostelling is the coolest! We have the best job.”

The Bethel Maine Hostel is an excellent location from which to enjoy great outdoor adventures—canoe trips, hiking near the Appalachian Trail and White Mountain National Forest, fishing for bass and trout in the Androscoggin River, road and mountain biking excursions, zip lines, skiing, snow boarding and snowshoeing—and the diverse countryside—mountains, lakes, swift streams and rivers, and forests. It is also a terrific meeting place for ski teams, school groups, family reunions, scouting clubs and more.

The Hostel has plenty of bedrooms for individuals and groups and a variety of beds—18 beds including queens, twins, bunk beds and family rooms.  It is handicapped accessible and has spacious common areas, dining and recreational areas, laundry facilities and plenty of kitchen space plus WiFi. Dorm rooms cost $25 for Hostelling International members and $28 for non-members.

The Bethel Maine Hostel is the only member of Hostels International in Maine, a global network of Youth Hostel Associations through Hostelling International. Hostelling International is the brand name of more than 90 Youth Hostel Associations in 90 countries, operating over 4,000 hostels world-wide. What makes HI different from other hostel operators is a focus on quality over quantity: all member countries are required to meet HI’s internationally-agreed Assured Standards for comfort, so you can rely on a consistent level of services and facilities wherever you stay. And, reservations may be booked online through Hostelling International’s website.
